Not sure how to boost this more. But let's get this inf ront of the faces of those 922 patrons, whom are paying for supporting and running Mastodon (which should include the moderation team right?)

"Reimbursement for the mastodon.social mod team"

It is time to get the main (and Only truth be told) moderator of Mastodon.social a living wage. please.

If you're dealing with SVG icons on a daily basis, I highly recommend you grab Gapplin on the Mac App Store.

gapplin.wolfrosch.com

It's a SVG viewer, but it also adds a QuickLook plugin, meaning you get previews of SVGs in the Finder, and this is *amazing*.

And it's free!

hey, as a heads up, if you like steven universe and you’re not caught up on the current episodes, do yourself a favor and mute a lot of keywords bc what just aired is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND INTEGRAL TO THE SERIES IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED

Why does a binary requires sudo privilege to display *things* in a terminal session? I don't get it.

JFC.

If I run it in sudo it displays fine.

Why.

How.

What's the logic behind this?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

re: the GRUB part. Apparently there's a `grub-emu` thing supposed to let you emulate GRUB to check the config.

Except, it renders a garbled ASCII mess on my SSH session so...I'm not quite sure what to do?

Is it good? Is it bad?

Guess I'll never reboot this machine.

But at least my certificates will renew!

....if the renewal works.

....if there's not a random error I won't notice until my SSL certs expired in 4 months.

2/ I tell to myself "Well I'll just run apt-get update/upgrade on my Debian box and be done with it, right?"
So I did.

Sat through like 30 package upgrades. Somehow GRUB told me there was an issue, I think I fixed it?

I'm scared to reboot now.

I love handling a Linux server 🙄

I just got the email from Let's Encrypt telling me that my certificates won't renew soon.

Fine, I click the forum link, it looks like gibberish to me and there's no clear path to safety here. Good start! 😅

harassing an author abt one thing in an article that otherwise raises some good points makes y'all seem v sensible and mature 👍

non-programmers are an important part of open source projects. non-programmer contributions are valid and useful and not second tier or otherwise less valuable.

it's easy to say programmers are the only value-add when you're fortunate enough to have enough non-programmers that you can take them for granted.

if you take away the feature requests, translations, and general chatter - many OSS projects would have never been more than flawed, narrow use case tech demos.

Also in other news I was at @CovalenceConf@twitter.com where @MarshallOfSound@twitter.com told us the Electron team uses a tool named Sudowoodo and that makes me like Electron even more and will be my #1 defense next time someone tells me Electron is like the Antichrist or whatever.

Also jeez, people usually work their asses off for months on that kind of things, if you have criticism at least put some effort into it than just "uuuhh bad".

Don't get me wrong, I love to complain about shit, that's like the 1st thing we learn in France as kids (😜) but with time I tend to just keep that kind of stuff to myself. Me complaining won't change anything anyway so what's the point 🤷

Ah yes I see we're doing the "Everyone and their cat has opinions about <new logo from Brand> and how it's Bad™️" thing again.

😴

I’ll be at @CovalenceConf@twitter.com with @decafdennis@twitter.com. Come say hi if you wanna chat! 👋
