On the way home from the Welsh conversation group, I spotted this cat being indecisive. https://octodon.social/media/ggl73avN4t7exbNouLA
I have been shredding papers. Of all the kinds of decluttering, I think I find paper shredding the most enjoyable.
I'm sure the world doesn't want to know what G and I think about the general election but Sky News had decided to interview people voting in the local elections in the town where May had made the decision to call a general election. I'm hoping that they'll decide that what we said was too boring to use, though it's just as likely that they'll edit us into a couple of sound bites that completely misrepresent what we said. Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed that we don't go viral like Brenda!
Driving to the slate mines today, G said, "You remember that walk we did a while ago, Torrent Walk? Well just nearby there's an old iron furnace that was run by Quakers that is now a dormouse sanctuary." Then he paused before saying, "That sounds like something out of that Radio 4 panel show, what's it called?"
"The Unbelievable Truth," I said.
Inspired by a post a friend wrote on Facebook ages ago, I made lemon curd in order to use up a couple of left over lemons. I'd never made it before, but it was very successful. I think I will be making it again.
This afternoon I attended an interesting and useful item on self-publishing. It didn't really tell me anything I hadn't already found out myself by doing research on the Internet, but it's always good to have things confirmed by someone who has a successful track record of publishing her own novels. #Eastercon
Apparently the surface down at Cardiff Bay is notorious for causing falls. Normally if I trip, I manage to turn it into an inelegant stumble and carry on, but it felt as though something had grabbed hold of my foot! Gravity took over and I now have a slightly grazed and painful knee and a sprained wrist. Also I broke my phone screen. :( Hoping to get that fixed tomorrow.
Over the years I have fallen because a stone was unstable and turned under my foot. I've fallen because I put my foot down wrong on an uneven surface and turned my ankle. I've fallen because a surface was slippy, but today was the first time I've fallen because a surface was too grippy!
It was a gorgeous day here in Cardiff. It felt more like summer than early April. But now it's clouded over, the wind has strengthened and the temperature has dropped. Typical Welsh weather really.
It would be even better if travelling from North to South Wales didn't involve going via England. Mountains are such a problem.
Travelling to Cardiff. Arriva Trains Wales now provide free WiFi. This is a new thing and I approve.
@shanaqui Rehoming books = introducing new readers to your favourites. I assume these are duplicates?
@shanaqui I'm glad the bunnies' vet visit went OK.
@shanaqui To be honest, I haven't looked at the program yet, but I'm sure there will be interesting panels and also lots of my friends will be there and I'll be hanging out and chatting -- and showing off my Habitica t-shirt, of course. :)
@shanaqui Yes, it's always the case that you need a critical mass of friends/acquaintances to make a social media site useful and interesting. But I'm off to Eastercon next weekend, so will be mentioning Mastodon there and see if I can get any people to join me.
@shanaqui Greetings! This is a new thing to explore. I never got on with Twitter, so let's see if Mastodon suits me better.
