FINALLY making a systematic effort to go through 500+ CD's & rip everything. It's been interesting -- I thought I had 9/10ths of my CD collection ripped, but it's maybe barely 2/3ds. Completing lots of incomplete albums from back when I didn't have a big enough hard drive. I've also culled about 30 clunkers, so far.

Arrival is not the answer
Arriving is not even the question
Destination is no more than the door
Where the leaving begins

Been trying to take a picture every day -- some are film so I won't have something to post every day, but today I got lucky & spotted a red cockeaded woodpecker in the neighbor's tree & he was still there after I ran inside & grabbed the 300 mm lens. octodon.social/media/3dgLrgr-A

I am burning CD’s for a friend who’s “not much of a tech guy” but finds our music meditative. I put a Carbon 7 album on the headphones last night & was sound asleep by the middle of the first song. I’m not sure if this is good or bad, but I needed the sleep.

obviously, the excellent cover photo is by the kind & generous @joshmillard

I haven’t gone away - work has just gone insane, so I don’t have much to report. Got home in time to finish up some CD inserts so I could make a few physical CDs of the last Carbon 7 album:

Oh, hey, one of my bands might have a gig at the end of February. My reason to live hasn’t totally left me high & dry! Rehearsals start while we wait for details. It’s original stuff that I got to craft my own bass parts for so I’m emotionally invested in this music.

Crazy couple of days at work, trying (& mostly succeeding!) to keep my cool. I decompress at bedtime by turning out the lights, plugging in the earbuds & meditating to music. It’s a Jeff Buckley kind of evening.

Hey people, do you remember Abstruse Goose, the ? Its author resumed posting after three years of silence!

Seriously who even is Cactus Boy Records? I know one person who has a physical copy of this CD. He ripped it for me, which is why I have it. allmusic.com/album/veg-mw00011

What a ridiculously overlooked gem. The whole thing just smokes, end to end.

The best song of the 90's (this week) I've had this on repeat in the car for a while:

VeG, a short-lived project of Parthenon Huxley from '97 -- good luck finding it on CD.

Bass practice with the headphones tonight - I finally have the bridge to The Fez nailed down, I memorized 16 bars of JPJ’s extemporaneous fills at the end of In The Light & fixed a dumb error I’d been glossing over in the turnaround to Starship Trooper. If I could do this every night...

@tootleapp I’m consistently getting a crash when I try to save an image. iPad Air iOS 11.2.2

Would buy you another coffee to see this & the apostrophe bug fixed 😁

Put on a nice dress shirt & jacket to go pick up my 20 year chip down at the AA club... it’s been so long since I’ve dressed up I feel like I’m wearing a spacesuit.

And I finished a 10.5 hour work day with 75% of my battery charge left. It’s such a relief.

Finally decided I couldn’t afford an iPhone 7 after much deliberation, so I took my 5s in for a new battery. When I got back, they informed me they’d broken my screen trying to replace the battery, but here was a brand new 5s for the price on the battery replacement. Seems like a win to me.

Can vouch for the cpu throttling with worn batteries- this new one is much smoother & faster with a fresh battery.

Maybe it’s just my brain, but I can’t stand animated avatars. Is it overly grouchy of me to reflexively mute anyone that shows up in my timeline with lots of flashing going on? I literally can’t read when something on my screen is wiggling or flashing. Maybe it’s some sort of cognitive disability.

I just noticed, phonetically at least, that Marc Gasol is a subset of LaMarcus Aldridge.

By the way, how the hell is everyone? It’s been a busy few days over here at The Ranch. (I don’t really have a ranch)
