are we going to have a mefi thread on the latest mass shooting, or can we copy/paste the last one and do a find & replace?
@afabulous 90 miles from here. We’ve got roving gangs of open-carry nuts roaming the streets in camo with assault rifles over their shoulders. Saving up to move to New Zealand, or maybe Antarctica
I honestly think about if it's viable to move to another country. Unfortunately it's not right now, and I don't know where that would be.
@bongo_x @afabulous Yeah, marketable skills, a good cash hoard, these are things I don’t have, but I’d like to get out of Texas at least.
@Devils_Rancher @bongo_x I’m still looking for a single cowboy from Canada. I want to live on a ranch far away from all this nonsense.
@afabulous @bongo_x @Devils_Rancher Do you watch Heartland (CBC)? Because that is my Canada cowboy jam.
@eyebrows @afabulous @bongo_x my tv only seems to get the Packers & the Spurs. We’ve actually had serious discussions about how far from an NBA team we can live, & which ones... a serious downside to Albuquerque, which is otherwise pretty high on the list still.
@Devils_Rancher @eyebrows @afabulous
Tucson is easy driving distance to Suns games. It's pretty much ABQ's sister.
@bongo_x @eyebrows @afabulous I have a friend in Prescott who just moved there from here & is ecstatic with the results. He sold his house in Barton hills for enough to buy another & retire on the difference. Flagstaff gets too much snow.
@Devils_Rancher @eyebrows @afabulous
Yeah, pretty much every city in AZ is a different weather situation, and a different vibe as a whole. Sometimes pretty drastically.
@bongo_x @eyebrows @afabulous Phoenix is RIGHT OUT.
@Devils_Rancher @eyebrows @afabulous
I thought about Phoenix for a while, but couldn't find what I wanted and got turned off. I don't love it, that's for sure. It's kind of Orange Co. CA with no beaches. Not my vibe.
Pluses are; jobs, it's affordable for a big city, has everything, traffic is not terrible for it's size.
@bongo_x @eyebrows @afabulous “Orange Co. without beaches” is a good description. I also need away from the heat, & ABQ gets warm, but it averages 10 degrees cooler than Austin, a major plus.
@Devils_Rancher @eyebrows @afabulous
If ABQ is too hot then Tucson is no good for sure. I don't know how humid Austin is, but that matters a lot to me, more than temp.
@bongo_x @eyebrows @afabulous It’s humid hear through June, then it drys out until fall usually, though still more than ABQ. I can handle the low 90’s at 10%. High 90’s at 30-40% is Too much. It was 48 this am & basically perfect. Wife won’t do the Pacific NW which bums me out.
@Devils_Rancher @eyebrows @afabulous
Ha! We think anything below mid 60's is cold. My wife thinks ATL has winter. Can't say I've loved any part of Pacific NW I've been too, except Vancouver CA, but humans can't afford to live there.
@bongo_x @eyebrows @afabulous I’ll probably inherit 6 acres in the hills west of Portland. I’d move there in a hot minute, but no work withot an hour commute, so it’s only viable for retirement, then taxes are too high, so it’ll probably get sold. 😕
@Devils_Rancher @eyebrows @afabulous
That's rough. Have you thought about a career in meth?
@ob1quixote @bongo_x @eyebrows @afabulous Oh, I can “garden,” wink, wink. Not much of a marketer along those lines, though. It is fertile land.
