Perhaps framing spree killings as a problem with guns blocks the chance to reduce the killings.
A significant segment of both sides of the gun control debate want safety.
Those who want guns taken away, want to stop the attacks of murderers
Those who want to keep lots of guns around, want them to stop the attacks of murderers.
Saying the problem is *guns* misses the vast consensus of "citizens who want their families to live" vs. "spree killers".

@DaveHiggins As i understand it that's the point of people shouting "right to bear arms"? I mean it's right that there's a mutual desire to solve the problem but by avoiding the workable fix people are making a value judgement it's right to oppose. Social cohesion can't and shouldn't come at the expense of fixing problems or political capitulation to the worst informed/richest body.
