I always thought sci-fi movies were being little ridiculous when a robot would interact with a computer by pressing buttons with analog "fingers." But then maybe that's our dark dystopian Burger King future after all.

@xor which movies in particular?

@DNA the best might be WALL·E, which I'll concede wasn't shooting for verisimilitude.

@xor Incompatible systems? Or maybe to keep them from getting infected? The androids of Ghost in the Shell SAC interact with Section 9's computer network via keyboards. I assume so that this is that they don't get infected themselves. But it might just be lack of thot on writer's part or "cool" aesthetic.

@DNA I've always thought it's a combo of those last two. Kind of like when explosions in space make a sound: might not be "right" but it's what the viewers expect

@xor RIGHT!!!! What's expected rather than what might be more realistic.
