oh
i finally *really* understood quantum entanglement and it's much less amazing now
like, not amazing at all
the most confusing part was people getting scared about paradoxes. there isn't even any. it's extremely simple and obvious once you take all the nonsense out
@CobaltVelvet Fear of paradoxes seems to be an echo of fear of the unknown. It's still hardwired into the reptile and primate brains. Only nowadays it wears a bowtie.
@CobaltVelvet so we're not going to be able to teleport minds with it? I'm shocked ☹️
@CobaltVelvet when i did some quantum physics at uni, much better once i learnt to suspend everyday intuition and go with the maths
@CobaltVelvet yeah i was very disappointed when i realized it can't be used for comms
@Gargron @CobaltVelvet They kind of did last year. Transmission of discrete bits using nested interferometers.
@drwho @gargron @CobaltVelvet The action-at-a-distance is still amazing though. The paper that introduced the teleporting idea to me was the most memorable paper I ever read.

@CobaltVelvet haha that’s what I realized too
@CobaltVelvet are you a tiqm advocate now
@martensitingale i think so i'm not sure
@CobaltVelvet the sad tale of most modern physics :/
