- I want 2FA
- I want good CPUs (at least as an option)
- I want real IPv6 support, not some improvised thing hacked into custom routers
- I want SSD *and* cheap slow disk storage available
- I want an isolated internal network available only to groups or my VMs
- I want the cheapest thing possible to be an IPv6-only 10€/year VM that can run weechat and nginx (and not as a marketing event, as a real sustainable product)
and IPv4 NAT *included* on IPv6-only VMs, Scaleway wtf are you thinking?
@CobaltVelvet DigitalOcean offers most of that (except for the last one).
@CobaltVelvet
Can I have:
2 threads (and I mean when I need 2 threads I get 2 simultaneous threads)
1GB RAM
30GB SSD
100GB HDD
A full-disk encryption mechanism
VLAN between instances encrypted where only I know the key
A guarantee that you run latest hypervisors
Should be doable for less than £10/mo + VAT really
@CobaltVelvet tbh the main demands are that you don't know what I'm doing on my VMs - I won't be doing anything remotely illegal, but it's nice to put this in privacy policies for services I might provide out of them. Like,
"Neither I, nor my upstream service providers can read your messages, and I throw away the metadata after I pass on the message"
@Minkovsky fuck YES
except the encrypted vlan, you'd have to set it up yourself, but proper vlans are definitely needed.
And yeah and installer supporting dm-crypt would really be great. Especially with virtual servers when images are moved all the time.
@CobaltVelvet I would like 100 million dollars and a supermodel wife, please.
@cc wow are you a banker and a genetic engineer? that's pretty cool
hey now I've always wanted to be a natural redhead, could you maybe hack me a virus during the week-end please?
@CobaltVelvet I thought we were just playing an unreasonable request game.
@cc @CobaltVelvet but... most of the original asks aren't unreasonable
@cc they look pretty reasonable to me, which one isn't reasonable? And from the context I wasn't requesting, but planning to work on them. Cause you know they exist somewhere and they are each doable and economically good, so...
Now I could have just assumed you were an idiot but I continued with a joke, you should take that opportunity.
@CobaltVelvet Trust your instincts.
@CobaltVelvet To be honest, I don't really know if it's reasonable or not, I just thought it sounded kind of funny to list a whole bunch of requirements and then say, oh and I want it as cheap as possible.
@CobaltVelvet I want low power CPUs and lots of storage (a cheaper rsync.net) for my zfs backups
@CobaltVelvet If you haven't already check out Lindode. I've used them for years. Other than a DDOS event in December 2015 they have been solid. https://www.linode.com/linodes
