Programming culture gripe, eye contact

"We don't really support these forums. Please join our Discord server and ask your question there."

"Do I have to?"

"If you want your answer, yes."

Not only is C-PP a largely unattainable ideal, it's one that browser manufacturers will actively fight you on (I remember a nightmarish experience with the "touchscreen" and "accessibility" features in Internet Explorer 11 making C-PP impossible with Firefox and Chrome) and as evidenced here pursuing it above all else actively sabotages actual accessibility and semantic readability for your webpage. Just don't! It doesn't matter if your page is a little aesthetically different on Edge!

I don't talk about web stuff a lot, mainly cause I did my internship in webdev and fucking hated it, but I read this: hugotunius.se/2020/10/31/flutt

And one thing I noticed back then and that comes up here is that web development is far, FAR too obsessed with cross-platform parity.

Honestly I just want more Blasphemous but we'll see about these new STVNias like The Last Faith and Vigil.

This is the opposite problem to Hollow Knight, which has a very strong and purposeful design philosophy and direction that just happens to be incredibly unfun and kinda ableist.

Salt And Sanctuary isn't good! It leans too hard on the "Souls" part of Soulstroidvania but doesn't understand why it's doing any of the stuff it's doing. It's far far too confused and listless to be compared to Blasphemous.

Seeing someone say "This Soulstroidvania is good. Up there with the greats like Blasphemous and Salt And Sanctuary" is like that John Mulaney bit about "I like great movies like The Godfather and Scarface"

I swear to god the ludicrous fear the right has of liberalism for threatening all the things that leftism actually wants to do is the silliest thing given liberalism literally frustrates the efforts of the left. It's like you're trying to kill a guy with an axe but you can't get into the room past a giant rubber inflatable mascot version of you and he won't come near it because he thinks the inflatable axe it's carrying is real.

As long as Adult Swim exists and funds serious video games you aren't allowed to make fun of me for this

Very disappointed to discover that Viz and VIZ media are not the same company, and that the alt-interest manga and anime localised for the west isn't actually in large part being produced by the magazine that ran Fat Slags, for some reason.

One of my oldest and closest friends is having a real rough time affording a lawyer to take their guardianship case- I've seen the kinds of things their parents say and do, this isn't a safe environment. Anything any of y'all can do to help would be greatly appreciated. gofundme.com/f/23zgqzzd00

Given Salt and Sanctuary was terrible too I'm beginning to suspect Blasphemous might be the only good Soultroidvania.

Making the ability to know where you are on the game map a purchasable unlock that uses up one of your limited ability slots is the kind of thing I would do for a gamedev shitpost on itch it's not really goty material.

And making the button that opens the menu where you equip it a button that famously does not work on the controller you're supporting when it's used with a PC, and then deciding that's one of the roughly 50% of the controls the player is arbitrarily not allowed to remap is BS

Played two hours of Hollow Knight cause I thought given how well Blasphemous hit for me it'd be a winner and uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The bad side of fedi is that it has the birdsite problem where when people start vaguing or tooting from an assumption everyone has the context you cannot find said context via searching except like, a thousand times worse.
