Pinned oot

When the "Bumblebee" trailer began in front of "Incredibles 2," I didn't know what it was, so I leaned over to Mrs.:

ME (gritty announcer voice): "Herbie Returns"
HER (utterly serious): Really?
ME: No. Well, I don't know, maybe.

I mean, this one at least makes in-universe sense.
...although the more I think about it, the less I wanna eat it.

OK, but...
...I mean...
...if it's frozen, then how do you peel off...
...because isn't that the whole...

Starting to wonder if, when the internet is over, it will be remembered by posterity as "a mechanism allowing (and therefore dooming) humanity to perform all functions more cheaply, more quickly, and more shittily"

For the warm reassurance that we all seem to need right now, might I prescribe rewatching Star Trek: The Next Generation

Marvel Fatigue is one thing. But I'm really getting Apocalypse Fatigue.

I mean, browse Netflix sometime. EVERYTHING IS THE END OF THE WORLD.

Dear kids in Washington State: you can make an appointment with your doctor, or walk into a clinic or ER, and get vaccinated. You don't need permission from your parents. You don't have to wait until you are 18. If the health care provider gets confused, the magic phrase is "Mature Minor Doctrine", and point out that not wanting to catch measles is sign of sufficient maturity.

Please reshare, and copypaste this any place this would be useful.

also, Seinfeld's "The Drake" is in "Willow," as the whimsical C-3PO analogue doubtlessly contractually mandated by Lucas

"Willow" rewatch after 30 years

The first 20 minutes or so are the only engaging part. After that, it has all the depth and originality of an episode of "Rescue Rangers"

My cats now favor, for puking purposes, the same single spot on the carpet--a spot which is half a cat length from uncarpeted flooring. ALL they would have to do is turn around.
...But that doesn't illustrate enough disdain, I suppose.

It's funny how we always thought that magic was, well, magic. That it wasn't bound to the normal laws of physics or thermodynamics. How could we have known that each spell was literally destroying the future, piece by piece? We couldn't have, at least, not until we hit *the day all magic comes from*.

It happened at 11:39 PM. Everything was perfectly normal, and then suddenly all of the water, fire, light... So many things just were gone. Pulled into the past by our own negligence.

And here's my previous toot in Guardian article form:
"'Aristocrats are anarchists': why the wealthy back Trump and Brexit"

us/world pol

John Edwards used to say there are "two Americas." He wasn't wrong, but post-Panama Papers, we ought to be saying there are "two Earths":

1- The transnational conspiracy of the treasonous hyperrich; and

2- Their victims.
