So, you can see how each instance will have a different local timeline, and even a slightly different federated timeline - and you can see why the federated timeline moves so much faster than the local one, too.

I think the best lesson you can give to a computer programmer is to let them know that they're not alone in trying to figure this shit out.
Hell, it's a young field and already we've created so many different cultures and languages. Nobody could possibly know all of this all the time.
Be gentle with yourself, computer programmer. The task is hard enough without being hard on yourself.
Postdocs at U of Washington (of which I am one) have been trying to unionize since last fall, against opposition from UW. Yesterday, I participated in a bring-your-laptop "work-in" at the president's office, and today UW said they wouldn't stand in the way any more of a unionization vote. βπ
