Queue endless toot puns =P
@Migukin I was just thinking that the Local timeline was more like a chatroom than a Twitter feed with the autoscrolling posts flying by =P I'm sure some people are treating it as such
@Migukin Maybe Twitter could save itself by joining the Federation >:D
@DarwinsToffees true. I found out seeing a bunch of security folk mentioning the new network, but I also don't know any of their profile names on here so I can't follow them yet =(
Also, toot is kinda silly. There's nothing wrong with Post/Send, and I am never going to talk about people's toots out loud.
I mostly use twitter to find out what people I am interested in are up to, so my usage here may be shortlived if they don't also use it. I love the federation and community moderation ideas, lack of advertising, etc., but I rarely post and want something to tell me what's going on. I really hope the developers/writers/critics/etc make the move to Mastodon. Knowing how Twitter treats app developers, I doubt there will be a lot of options for dual posting to both networks.
@Asbruckman My thoughts too. I think the server is now part of the identity, and people will have to use something like their own website as the authority for pointing people to the right place.
