For those asking: ZBD is a Zprinter file. It was probably made with ZPrinter 450 or 660 from ZCorporation. #3DPrinting #RealTimeChem

Does anyone on here do 3D printing and happen to be able to convert a ZBD file to something Shapeways will take? Have the finished file, tried to print it, but the printer ran out of binder, and we couldn't get it printed before our 3D printing person when on vacation

Fascists aren't just anyone you disagree with or consider oppressive, nor are they all far rightists.
In a nutshell, #fascism is the agenda of movements which seek to restore an imaginary glorious national past by increasing the authority of the state and taking harsh measures against leftists and some minorities which they paint as internal enemies of the nation.

No issues with Mastadon CPU use on my home PC with Firefox. Two instances running, CPU usage by Firefox under 3%. On the other hand, it has an i7 2600K, so could just be so powerful it doesn't notice.

@Canageek I have the same Problem on Chrome and Lubuntu 17 64bit on an AMD Turion II mobile CPU.
One time the cpu usage jumped to 60%, most of the times it jumps to ~20%. (Playing a youtube video uses 15-20 %)
The Jumps occur seemingly randomly but frequently.

Now have both Cybre.Space and Octodon.social open: Have CPU spiking to 20%, but not sitting on it constantly like in Firefox, even after removing Stylish.

Ok, problem with Mastadon: In Firefox it incures a SIGNIFICANT amount of CPU. Firefox suddenly starts using an average of 10-20% of my CPU, a i5 M 540 at 2.5 GHz.

Only web applications could make copying data off the internet and displaying it on screen take that much CPU.

Testing in Chrome now. Seems fine so far. Still about 5% of CPU, which is pretty crazy for rending text and a few images.

WTF, do I blame Firefox or the person who wrote Mastadon?

Dad just DMed his last tabletop game (in person, at least) for the group he has been DMing since 1981.

I'm hoping this group continues online. When they started, none of them had kids. Three of the party members are now the kids of other players. One of those kids now has a kid of his own. That is right, they've been laying so long they've gone no kids to grandkids.

Dear . I would really like the games in my queue to be in my queue because they share similar features with games I already own, play, or have in my wishlist.

'This game is in your discovery queue because it is popular' is a shit reason.

anyone who thinks a council of masto admins would result in an agreement has clearly never studied church history for any period of time

cyberspace: jack in and secure the nodes to shut down the ventillation fans to let your team infiltrate the objective and clear the next JIP for you to crack the reactor doors

cybrespace: you jack in. there is a room, with white walls, a white cieling, and white tiled floors. the grout is beige.

there is a single chair

inside the chair is a SNES controller, and 1 copy of sonic the hedgehog 3, playing only the bonus rounds

do not question it. Just play. The lives if your assault team in meatspace depend on your success.

The phone-number/Signal and social-security-number/credit-score repurposings break down in the same way: nobody knows whether it's a username or password

Phone numbers are to Signal as social security numbers are to credit applications: a unique ID that was designed for a specific purpose but coopted for other identification needs, to the point that now people think the two purposes are related.

@xor @yellowfrog it's worthwhile exploring some of the reasons why people feel phone numbers are private/valuable (without judging them). Off the top of my head:

1) Single phone number -> person mapping means hard to compartmentalise different identities
2) Possibility of harassment tied to knowledge of phone (why people want to keep emails addresses secret too)
3) Expensive to discard phone number, so permanent identifier
4) Phone co. can map to name/address
