I have the feeling that people are abusing the CWs.
@BrunoLefevre how so?
@caitofthenorth The way I understand it, CWs are made for explicit content, or spoilers, and the like. I often see totally regular content placed in CW, with just a two word title.
The Federated timeline goes so fast that clicking on those is not easy and often forces to scroll. For content that we should have been able to read instantly, that's a bit frustrating.
@caitofthenorth That problem with using it so loosely is that I take the habit of opening them right away… And the day I'll stumble upon truly CW-worthy content, I'll regret it.
And partially hide long texts, why not. But at least put one or two sentences so that we really now what it's about, not just two vague words.
@caitofthenorth Good example of what I mean : https://witches.town/users/sempervirenx/updates/26101
Only one very general word as description, and content totally unnecessarily hidden, not even long.
@BrunoLefevre I think that's an actual CW though. Food is actually not an uncommon CW. Some people find food talk aggravates their eating disorder
@caitofthenorth Thinking like that, everything could be of inconvenience to some people, and everything should be hidden. Including the cake emoji in your name.
For something as trivial as food talk, that's taking it a bit too far, and I think it's depurposing the role of the CW system for most users.
@BrunoLefevre maybe, but my point was about the possible intent of that post in that it may legitimately have been meant as a CW and not a post-shortener and not an argument about the validity of that CW
@BrunoLefevre yeah. I can definitely see the importance of explaining what you're using it for
