@lores Thanks for the follow! I appreciate it. You are a fabulous artist. Sorry about the personal branding coach. I hate all of that. That's probably why I'm not wildly successful as an author. Can't/won't do that stuff. It isn't just stubbornness. "Selling myself" causes me great anxiety.

@BobTarte Thanks for the compliment! We had some nice conversations so it's normal to follow back (I still don't really know who to follow on mastodon and how the timeline works!). And for the personal branding, yeah same, it's just part of an 8 month training with lots of formations and training to become an "entrepreneur" (or in my case a freelance illustrator), half of the formations are about marketting yourself and I am *drowning*. I just hope my artworks speak louder than me

@lores I hope it works out for you! It really is quite daunting doing even the tiniest fraction of what is supposed to be basic marketing. When one of my books was published, my agent wanted me to create a blog about one small subject I wrote about in my book, and this was in addition to my website and social media presence. I declined, having spent lots of time on other promotions that never helped a bit. I've got a bad attitude, I guess.

@BobTarte Haha, I don't think you have a bad attitude, some people can withstand a lot of social media/networking everyday (to the point where they even ENJOY it!!) and some (like me) can just try to scrap by with the bare minimum. 😅 Since one of my targets is SFF publishers, I've been told I should talk about SFF on my twitter, but even if I have the knowledge since I do read a lot of SFF, I don't really know what to say. Plus I don't want to criticize because creating is hard!

@BobTarte Like, I really admire the SFF writers illustrators, and publishers I'm following on twitter, they always seem to have something interesting and meaningful to say about what's happening in the small SFF world, but I'm not like them : have no idea what to say (and I'm kinda scared of saying the wrong thing!). I do know how to use the semi-colon though, so that's that.

@lores Hahaha, yes, the semi-colon. I only use it as a last resort and will rewrite sentences endlessly to avoid it. I can't remember the last time I've used a semi-colon. Probably in place of a comma in a complicated list.

@lores Scottish Fishermen's Federation? I ddged SFF and didn't get enlightened.

@lores You can talk about which SFF you like and what you are doing in that field and how popular you are with the Scottish Fishermen's Federation in general. You don't necessarily have to say what you don't like, right?
