@KthulhuKat Well, to be fair, Avon published a paperback titled Necronomicon in 1977, and I see on Amazon there's a new edition out.

@Mainebot Maybe just hunger. Anyway, that sounds good to me. Enjoy!👍

@phooky You'd likely have done as well with a couple glasses of wine. The main active ingredient in the -Quils is alcohol.

@noelle This is the world neoliberalism and globalization has created. Employees are objects to put into slots, and the fewer employees to pay the more money for the C-suite and the shareholders. If they could replace you with a robot, they would.

@starbreaker No, it doesn't. But at least they can't say they never knew. 🙂

@starbreaker I think it's more a case of training. Unless you've actually worked in the media, you're likely to accept their much-proclaimed lack of bias as fact. It isn't, and never has been. They're first obligation is to their advertisers, and then comes the personal biases of the editorial board and staff.

@Stonekettle Or a dachshund. They fight badgers, so you'd have help if any guards show up.

There are days when I despair of waking people up to the fact they are being brainwashed by the corporate US media. I get past it by hoping that at least one person will pause to think about what I'm saying.

@nex3 Honestly, I HATE their new layout on Roku with a passion second only to my hatred of…well, I guess it's not really second to anything. It's clumsy and time-eating, and not being able to kill auto-start makes me want to throw things.

@generica Agree, especially when the tweets are (a) taken out of context and/or (b) one has an app to block social media during work hours to aid in concentration. But reading news IS part of one's work.

@TotallyArbitrary Probably an evangelism bot (yes, they do exist). I don't even know if they target; they're just set up to paste some inane "Christian" comment into various comment streams. On the other hand, Indivisible on the national level has clearly outed itself as a tool of the Democratic establishment, so the right-wingers may, in fact, be targeting their social media.

@h I have been taken to task by those eager to embrace the current Russia mania for even suggesting I don't believe a word that emerges from the FBI/CIA propaganda machine. There are way too many people who have way too much trust in the untrustworthy.

Is it coincidence that just as the "alternative news sites are Russian stooges" mania ramps up, there are not one but TWO articles by "respected sources" telling us we need to get off the internet because it's ruining our minds? In the space of five days?

The establishment is really getting desperate. If they can't scare us away from Consortium News and Truthout, they'll try to chase us off the 'net altogether.

@Hieraco Narcissists are incapable of empathy. Narcissism isn't curable. DT is a classic narcissist. Expecting him to act like anything other than a narcissist is a waste of energy.

Just reviewed Joel Whitney's FINKS, about the CIA's interference in our literary and film culture. Not perfect but definitely recommended: bit.ly/2xJDRig

@rotatingskull "Work hard and be rich" made a lot of money for the guy who wrote the book, and it's been a useful propaganda piece to convince working slobs neoliberal economics is the only path to follow.

I may need to spend the day here to avoid any more anti-Trump ranting. I get it—he's a classic narcissist, and he's behaving like one. Moving on…
