I don't even know what I'm doing here. What's the difference between a "follow" and a "remote follow"? And why do pages keep making Star Trek references?

@AlisonHudson there are many instances, you can follow people on the same or follow people on another one (remote follow) that will make instances communicate (a bit like when someone at gmail sends something to yahoo)

@AlisonHudson I think a "follow" is someone from your local timeline. "Remote follow" would be someone from another timeline - a "federated timeline".

And I think the Star Trek references are because of the use of the word " federated" like the Federation from Star Trek.
