I miss having an online community.

I’ve been on β€œEverybody is cooler than you” and β€œThe world is on fire” mostly, also I’m in like ten different group chats and a bunch of online support groups. They all bring me down.

Every time I have something to share I feel like whatever thing I’m logged in to is the wrong place for it, but I can’t quite think of the right one just now. Then I never share it.

Maybe I’ll try and put that stuff here for a while.

That "git blame" is called that instead of "git credit" or the like is an example of needed emotional labor not being performed in tech.

One doesn't "blame" their teammates for the code that works, which usually constitutes the bulk of a code base.

I just learned what a "411" is, because #Firefox attempts to educate its users by asking "What's the 411 on 404 messages?"
I knew what a 404 was, but 411... I mean, of course I thought it was an HTTP status code. And it is not. m)

Not sure how to judge this: Did their attempt to educate backfire because of using some American slang that international users like me don't get? Or is it genius because it educates both ways? :o

I recently learned about i3's scratchpad. You have to configure the key shortcuts yourself as there are no defaults, but it's really cool. I use it to put my music player most of the time

The hard part of writing stories is not coming up with ideas (that's the second hardest part to me right now), it's filling out the gaps, both in tying scenes together and in simple stuff. It doesn't make much sense to have someone look around a room without them seeing something, for example. There are so many details you need to know about that I gloss over in my head, and that no one will ever notice unless they're missing.

I've been trying to use my commutes for writing. It works better than I expected, but still pretty hard to get into

Apparently mastodon (or at least Amaroq, where I do my tooting) doesn't have a mute keywords function (yet🀞🏻). That's a bummer, because I really need to mute "birdsite", and "twitter", and probably "mastodon" 😩

@jamuraa I thought federation worked on a whitelisting basis?

@Oriet is that how trees work? That's… kinda awesome
