As a long term Android user for over a decade I think I am going to be switching to the iPhone. I no longer care about specs and features and only want a product that does the basics, is secure, and from a company I trust. I can no longer trust Google and want to cut out all Google products in my life. Death to all advertising and data harvesting companies. Apple, please don't fail me.
There's one thing I don't like about Mastodon and that's the fact that everyone shows up in your instance and federation feeds from all over the world. The reason I don't like this is that too much of my feed is in languages I do not understand which annoys me. I'm not particularly supporting censorship or language exclusive instances but just some sort of "hide all languages but my own" setting or a translation feature would be a great addition to this platform.
Anyone else nervous about this Shadow Brokers release? This is very concerning to me, and I fear for the future of the internet. What's even more concerning is Microsoft's claim that the NSA has not contacted them since the original breach years ago or after the teasers the hack group has been giving for months. They would rather deny their existence (responsibility) instead of working with Microsoft to build defenses against their own tools being used against us. The NSA are not our friend.
Anyone know of any alternative global and cyber news accounts? I always used twitter for news mainly and don't know if there are any media's on here yet.
