I finally got curious about those free personality tests by scientologists, so I walked in. How long will this take, I asked? I was expecting the e-metre right away, but she said it was going to be 200 questions.

Not feeling up to that kind of self-interrogation, I excused myself as politely as I could. She did give me this self-helpish booklet that looks like the #Scientology commandments.

I’ve seen the sort of questions they ask before. Most of them are the same thing rephrased in slightly different ways, and they’re based around figuring out your satisfaction with your current life, how much money you have, how easily you succumb to peer pressure, and whether you already have people in your life who could offer emotional support.

@A_Noyd Oh wow, that sounds really insidious. Do they really break out the creepy manipulations right away?

@JordiGH

I'm no expert; that's just what I've seen. No doubt, like all religions, there are individual practitioners who make it their own thing rather than trying to manipulate others.

But the recruiters? They might think they're doing the right thing, but they're really testing for how easily someone can be controlled and abused.
