I am not proud of my ignorance but am so pleased to be schooled! Pangaea was only among the most recent of many super-continents!? FTW!

(An aside: poetry can sometimes survive on Wikipedia, as this excerpt from the Pangaea page, demonstrates. Kudos to the lyrical editor whose phrasing stopped me in my tracks.)

(Studying the collapse of Wikipedia is helping me understand the collapse of historic states. We read intellectually that the Roman Empire e.g. took over a century to disappear in some areas, and Wikipedia gives me a more visceral, tactile understanding of that, which I think has been helpful.)
