“Three long-term birth cohort studies in the U.S. suggest that pesticides are harming children’s brains. In these studies, researchers found that women’s exposure to pesticides during pregnancy, measured through urine samples, was associated with negative impacts on their children’s IQ and neurobehavioral development, as well as with ADHD…” https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/health-benefits-organic-food-farming-report/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=hu-twitter-general
@22 Sadly, we're all part of a giant experiment. We end up exposed to hundreds of chemicals (which by themselves are supposed to be safe), let them react with each other and see what happens.
It'd be interesting to plot all sorts of ailments versus when certain chemicals entered the marketplace. It wouldn't tell you much, expect that chemicals are making us sicker.
"The Story of Cosmetics", even though U.S. centric, is a great watch. And remember, buy organic!
That’s right: when science supports my views—in this case, that while organic can be better, it’s better than nothing—I don’t raise issues like garden of forking paths, researcher degrees of freedom, p-hacking, etc. 😂 even though epidemiology/public health researchers are among the worst abusers of statistics 😣.
But seriously—if you can garden & grow your fruits and vegetables, do so. If you can’t but can afford to buy organic at the store, do that. If not, wash and cook your fruits & veggies.
