It’s Thursday, so here’s some of my work!

This was a personal project that was a reflection on a trip I took to a research center on the James River in VA.

This type of project is the kind I enjoy the most. I was a fun challenge choosing the best paper and physical form to compliment the photography and wax rubbings I created. I was very satisfied with how this turned out, and it continues to be a favorite of mine!

A weird result of our recent merger:

The new employees previously all ate lunch together, so now the same half of the company eats lunch together every day.

Do your coworkers all eat together? I never eat lunch at a consistent time, so I’m usually on my own.

@jason I suppose was familiar with this term, but not with it’s lineage. After reading this, it’s kind of surprising that the gaming-related tag is so widely used since it’s a clear play on the term.

@jason I don’t think I know the other term you’re referring to or I probably wouldn’t use the tag

@jason It’s just a pc gaming tag that’s a dig at console gamers

Here’s a fun thing:

I just paid $170 to have my MacBook Pro shipped back to the US after rushing thru the security checkpoint at Heathrow last week and leaving it there. Next time I travel, I’m not booking any indirect flights with less than a 90 minute layover.

Reply to this if you’re playing the new event on PC!

I need more friends.

I just drafted a perfectly subtle “Hey, why haven’t you great buffoons paid me yet?” email to a client that I did some freelance work for back in March

@tcql I just remember everything going to shit once they started construction on the silver line

@cat_abyss when I was a kid, I thought that the “degauss” button on my CRT was the coolest thing about it

@tcql at this point, I just assume there is safetracking / a fire and plan to add 45 mins to my commute whenever I metro

@tcql I hate bringing up this argument because I also live near DC and everybody just tells me I should take the metro

I don't know if I tooted about this before, but I found this webapp for Mastodon and it looks very promising: github.com/naumanni/naumanni

I resent the fidget spinner hate bc I’ve had a nicely-machined stainless one for like a year, but I am conflicted bc I also like spicy memes

Sometimes I feel just like a fidget spinner

Don’t use Google AMP

“Google AMP is bad news for how the web is built, it’s bad news for publishers of credible online content, and it’s bad news for consumers of that content. Google AMP is only good for one party: Google.” – thelink.is/google-amp-bad

“If I had my way, Mobile Safari would refuse to render AMP pages. It’s a deliberate effort by Google to break the open web.” – daringfireball.net/linked/2017

The first of many images that I'll post from the Spain/Amsterdam trip I just finished.

This was the sunset view from the rooftop of our airbnb in the gothic quarter of Barcelona!
